10 reasons to NOT Drink Italian wine

THESE WINE ARE TOO OLD!

Italian wine finds its first roots more than 2,300 years ago during the Roman Empire. The culture of wine in Italy is rooted since the birth of its people. Wine has always been a bargaining chip for aristocratic families, and in the Middle Ages, it was a source of energy for the working population! Some wines like Barolo or Amarone can age even 50 years!

EVERY DAY THERE IS A NEW WINE! IMPOSSIBLE TO FOLLOW ALL!

It is from the 3rd century BC that vines are bred in Italy. Since the Roman Empire, the Italian people raised the vine, creating local and regional varieties. Moreover, the various crossings and genetic evolutions have created a biodiversity heritage of the vine plant, among the most impressive in the world. We speak of more than 500 certified native varieties, but it is possible that there are more than 3,000. The mapping is still in progress.

TOO MANY WINES AND CELLARS. YOU CAN NEVER CHOOSE.

Yes! Italy is a nation of individualists, who do not make group teams, and therefore there is no real wine industry. But it is from here that the Italian genius is born. In Italy, there are more than 310,000 wineries and 95% of them are made by family corporations. They craft their individual work and the individual creativity has produced over 74 DOCG, 334 DOC, 118 IGT... and then there are also patterns of varietal and table wines.

NAMES ARE LONG AND UNPRONOUNCEABLE

It is difficult to pronounce even for the Italians themselves. The names require you to think a bit! With all the grape varieties and local names, we get to hundreds and maybe thousands of different names. Many names come from Latin, while others come simply from local dialects that identify specific grapes or qualities. Just think about names like the gerwutztraminer of the Alto Adige, the Schioppettino di prepotto of Friuli, the All'Amarone Classico Della Valpolicella Riserva "name” DOCG!

THE WINES ARE NEVER THE SAME! YOU MUST TREAT THEM WITH VELVET GLOVES!

Italy is the European country with the highest number of organic wineries in the whole food sector. It also has the most stringent and restrictive laws of all European states for pesticide and poison use. Our organic and natural sector is among the most prestigious in the world. It regulates the nature, the soil, and the production of the final product: the wine!

YOU NEVER KNOW IF IT IS TRUELY MADE IN ITALY

Italian wines and foods are the most counterfeited in the world for a value of about $60 billion per year, against the $40 billion of true, made in Italy, exports. There is high demand for Italian products, so it is reasonable that there is such a large counterfeit market. There is the protection consortia that daily carries out strict controls on all our products! You can help us too by checking that they are made in Italy products and finding reliable and trustworthy stores or dealers! Thank you!

EVERYBODY DRINKS IT

Prosecco is the most sold and consumed wine in the world. It has become synonymous with aperitif or sparkling wine. It is able to create conviviality and bring people together in moments of relaxation and celebration. Prosecco is synonymous with freshness, freedom, and the pleasure of being together! Let's drink on it!

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO COMBINE WITH FOOD

If you think there are too many wines in Italy, the recipes of cooking are endless (due to different variations and territories). In Italy, people often use the combination of local recipes with local wines, to maintain the flavors of the earth. In addition, each wine is used to cook great dishes, such as braised beef with Barolo, risotto with Amarone, or risotto with prosecco.

THEY COST TOO MUCH

Fine and collectible wines are abundant in Italy, just think of the Massetto, Coterno, Gaja,

Quintarelli. They are small cellars and there will come many others, like Garbole, which produces only 1,500 bottles a year even in the midst of huge demand. The quantities to produce great wines for collecting must necessarily be limited and maniacally treated in detail. As they say in Italy "in the small barrel there is good wine".

I DO NOT KNOW WHERE ITALY IS!

Italian thinks that Italy it is at the center of the world. This is why we invite you to visit our cities and wine-growing areas. Italy is a country where in the north there are temperate climates in the summer, and cold climates in the winter. In the south, hot summers and mild winter climates. The mountains scattered throughout the ground, the active and dusty volcanoes, the hills, benefit from the highest quality viticulture. In addition, the seas that bang the three sides, the islands and the lakes reinforce a unique microclimate in the world. The pedoclimatic diversity of the Italian peninsula contains so many variables that can create wonderful wines!
